Concrete volume calculator.

Calculate concrete volume for your slabs, footings or pads. Enter the length, width and depth for each pour, & this concrete calculator will find the poured volume plus the total across every row, with your waste allowance added on top. This is bank-measure volume — the true geometric volume before spillage, over-excavation or formwork tolerance — since concrete is ordered and paid for by the delivered cubic metre. This calculator is a geometric takeoff, not a substitute for a structural design. Use our Concrete Mix Ratio Calculator for a cement, sand and aggregate breakdown.

How we calculate this.

For each pour (row): volume = length × width × depth. The total across every row is summed, then a shared waste allowance is added on top for the ordering total — total incl. waste = total × (1 + waste allowance). Depth is entered in millimetres since pour depths are usually specified that way; length and width in metres.

Assumptions & sources
Assumption Value Source
Waste allowance 5–10%, default 5% Typical contractor allowance for spillage, over-excavation and formwork tolerance on a straightforward pour — general concrete-estimating practice. Increase it for irregular ground or hand-placed pours.

Common questions

Concrete is ordered and paid for by the delivered cubic metre, and a pour rarely uses exactly the geometric volume — spillage, over-excavation and formwork tolerance all add a bit more. Ordering to the raw geometric total risks a delivery falling short part-way through a pour.

5% is a reasonable default for a straightforward, well-formed pour on firm ground; go higher (up to around 10%) for irregular ground, hand-placed work, or a first pour with an unfamiliar crew.

Yes — each row is an independent pour with its own length, width and depth. Add rows for every pour on the job, or upload a spreadsheet listing them all; the totals sum every row.

No. This is a geometric quantity takeoff for ordering concrete, not a structural design — slab thickness, reinforcement and mix strength all need a qualified engineer's sign-off.

Yes — click or drop an Excel (.xlsx/.xls) or CSV file onto the upload area. The first column should be an item name and the second the measurement for that row; extra columns this calculator uses are read too if present. The file is parsed entirely in your browser — it's never uploaded to our servers. Download the blank template first if you're not sure of the layout.

Yes — use the metric/imperial switch above the calculator. Values you've already entered convert automatically; nothing is lost switching back and forth.
